A Politically Exposed Person (PEP) is an individual who holds, or has held, a prominent public position or role, either domestically or internationally. This includes senior government officials, high-ranking military officers, senior executives of state-owned corporations, political leaders, and judicial officials. PEP status also extends to their immediate family members and close associates.

Examples of PEPs include:

  • Heads of state or government

  • Senior politicians or government officials (e.g., ministers, senators)

  • Senior members of the judiciary or military

  • Top executives of state-owned enterprises

  • Key political party officials

You may be considered a PEP if you:

  • Currently hold or have recently held one of these roles

  • Have immediate family members (parents, spouse, children, or siblings) or close associates in these roles

If you are unsure about your PEP status, you can consult regulatory guidelines or contact our support team for clarification. It’s important to disclose PEP status accurately, as it may require additional due diligence measures.
